Jan 10th, 2020- Let's talk gratitude

We got out to the parking garage this morning to find a small amount of antifreeze under our car. We had suspected the night before we might have a small leak because we could detect the sweet smell when we were idling at stop lights. Although we will have to inspect further at our next destination, the leak is small enough we drove to O'Reilly Auto Part to top it off before we left.

As I'm sitting in the warm car while Greg is filling the tank, I wanted to take a minute to talk gratitude. Obviously I am incredibly grateful to have such a smart husband who can so easily detect and resolve our car issues while allowing me and the kids to be comfortable and safe. But grateful hearts shouldn't just be as a result of an incident. Some moments like these spark words and feelings of thankfulness but we are working hard to make gratitude part of our every day.

We packed our entire life for four people into the trunk of a car so space is very precious. We had to think and rethink the things we were bringing. They had to have value, multiple functions, be our most used items, and what we truly couldn't live without. Since we have no end date to our adventure, that added an additional challenge. Packing for a week is very different than packing for 6 months, or a year! But we made sure to use our precious room to pack our gratitude journals.

Every morning before we start our day we take out our journals and our favorite pen to write 3 things we are grateful for that day. The things we are grateful for in the morning are very different than after experiencing an entire day of events because gratitude in the morning is honest, it's primal.

This morning my entries were:

I'm grateful to be watching the sun rise over Reno while drinking my coffee. I'm grateful to be celebrating 15 years with Greg today. I'm grateful my kids were thankful we took them to Circus Circus.

What are you grateful for today?
