It was a little less expensive to book a condo than it was to stay in a hotel on the Vegas strip. We are still within walking distance but this way we had more room to stretch out and a kitchen to prepare food. I think for most people, eating out is one of the activities they enjoy most when on vacation. It's definitely hard to force ourselves to abstain from all the amazing restaurants advertised on all the lit signs but we have to remember the two most important reasons:
Spending that same money on activities will be more memorable.
Our bodies will feel better if we feed it healthy meals.
So when we checked in on Sunday, I helped the kids unload their bags and got the house prepared for work and school the next morning while Greg ran to the grocery store to pick up our list for the week. Our total this week came to $108.68 (with tax). Everything purchased was vegetarian. It made (for four people) 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, 7 dinners, and snacks for a total of 84 meals. Total cost per meal is $1.29 which isn't even comparable to the $15+ per person we would expect to pay at a restaurant. That's a total expected savings of $1,151 by preparing our own food versus eating in restaurants!
